MEET CHARRISSE SOMME
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina and an LPC in the state of Virginia and West Virginia.
My name is Charrisse and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina and an LPC in the state of Virginia and West Virginia. In my experience as a counselor, I have had the opportunity to work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and groups. It is in my general practice to be guided by ethics, to have an unconditional positive regard for clients and do no harm to the clients that receive clinical services.
My Counseling Approach
My approach to counseling is collaborative and strength-based. When working with clients to meet their goals it has been my experience that effective therapy occurs when honesty, mutual effort, and teamwork are present. As a provider of counseling services, I‘ve assisted clients who presented an array of issues. In working with clients I have addressed issues such as Depression, ADHD, self-esteem, marital and relational issues, stress and anger management, and parenting and communication challenges. In addition, I taught classes at the Community College in the Human Services Technology Program that prepared future helpers. Furthermore, I worked with military members and their families providing supportive counseling through the cycles of Deployment. These experiences have afforded me the opportunity to understand Military culture and address mental health issues such as Post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, life transitions, and grief and loss. I am experienced in using evidenced-based practices that include EMDR and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
